mimjed 0 Posted December 21, 2009 http://www.ehow.com/how_2094753_rear-brake-pads-vw-jetta.html the piston turning bit is important
Supercharged 2 Posted December 21, 2009 No, just the 2 metal clip things between the pads and carrier... You will need a windback tool though for the piston!
culshaw 1 Posted December 21, 2009 Thanks i've done the winding bit already thanks to davidworts guide! Facing another problem here, this is probly real daft but! how do i fit goodridge hoses correctly if i fit the line to hose it goes fine but then when i try to fit it to the caliper the olive doesnt spin so twists the cable, is it a caliper off job and rotate the caliper to get it on?? mimjed 0 Posted December 21, 2009 depends what fitting is on the hose. but if caliper off does the trick, why the hell not
culshaw 1 Posted December 21, 2009 dunno mate but do i use the crush washers on front or back :S
mimjed 0 Posted December 21, 2009 err, not entirely sure where you mean. i only used the copper washers on a banjo connection. dont think they required on female swivel joints. depends what you have and where you mean?
culshaw 1 Posted December 21, 2009 rear calipers bog standard corrado ones standard lines, goodridge hose female from the line to male at the caliper, im assumin i put the washer at the female end next to banjo?
mimjed 0 Posted December 21, 2009 go with them against the caliper so the hose clamps up on them. not convinced they are neede but wont do any harm to have them on
Supercharged 2 Posted December 21, 2009 Yep, screw the hose into the caliper then connect to the hard line and tighten the union nut up to it so not twisting the hose at all.
culshaw 1 Posted December 21, 2009 hi supercharged there was no play in the hose or the union nut, see pic so it's a little twisted, whats the best way to fix it up? so to make it a bit clearer the nut on the end of the brake line doesn't move (is that normal?), the female of the hose doesn't move nor does the male on the caliper end. Supercharged 2 Posted December 21, 2009 Yeah that does look a bit twisted - not ideal... Yes the hose connectors are fixed so you tighten to the caliper first then run the free end to the hard line and tighten the union nut up to the connector on the hose.
