HI SPEC brakes? any good?

Recommended Posts

To my mind if you have to ask the question then I would choose something else.

Have you ever seen them being used on anything in competition? I haven't. Might be OK, but for the money there are better option IMHO.

Ive got a set of 285mm and four pots on mine !

I rate them, they fit behind my 15" estoril,no spacers, even the skinny spare fits !!

and yes they do stop incredibly well, the calipers will go upto a 350mm disc !so if you ever need more braking, just buy new discs and pads, ive used hi-spec parts many times through the years,i always go to their shop (30 mins away)

very friendly,and very very helpful.

Well a friend of mine runs em on his 280 hp polo and tbh they stop it from 160 to dead without much probs... he swears by em!

If i had read the comments posted in the link by Yalan, i wouldnt have bought Hi-Spec !

But i did buy a set, about 12k ago,and i have nothing but praise for them,

After sales service was top notch, maybe cause i go to their workshop and deal direct, cause ive used them before i get a 10% discount,

285mm brakes + 4 pot calipers= modern day braking and then some

I keep toying with the idea of using their rear 4 pot calipers !

now where did i put that lottery ticket !

Have they got an integral handbrake mechanism?

I've been looking for something decent to replace the standard rear calipers with for ages, but nothing has yet presented itself. I don't want to run a seperate handbrake caliper. It's not for increased performace, but for reliability and smoother operation. The standard rears as we all know, are complete t0ss this time of year.

They certainly look like nice kits and they won't break the bank either.. you can get the full 285mm kit for a Corrado for a little over £600. Not bad at all. The 300mm kits still come in at under £1000!
