Pat_McCrotch 0 Posted January 20, 2010 A couple of times over the snowy period my rear calipers were frozen on. I just drove slowly hoping they would free off. However the rear brakes seem to 'hold' even in milder weather like we've had recently and when they are hot and coming to a stop you can feel a strange hold>let go>hold>let go feeling through the pedal. To be honest, I haven't eveb looked at the discs yet. But my fear is theres a massive chunk of pad still on the rear discs! :gag:
Supercharged 2 Posted January 20, 2010 This is mostly caused by frozen handbrake cables mate... mine were still freezing with the MK4 calipers, changed the cables and they've been fine since
John-M 0 Posted January 21, 2010 It might also be the handbrake cable 'levers' on the back of the calipers. Mine on the drivers side was v sticky - but a squirt of WD and manually working them on and off cured it. See here for a more lengthy 'how-to' :) viewtopic.php?f=23&t=87154
