demons uk 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Hey guys, Well, i'm going to have a go at doing the cambelt on the G60.. :hitler: I'm pretty handy with tool's but never done a cambelt, never had a need to. I've read the G60 timing thread and have the Bentley Corrado book. Do i need to fiddle with the ignition timing? Also do i need the locking tool? Any tips would be great, cheers. chiller1 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Hi i'm a tecy by trade and i hardly ever use locking tools (only on diesels. The best thing you can do in my book is time it up with the timing marks and mark each pulley ONCE, on the pulley and on the backing plate/camshaft cove etc.. If the timing marks on the car don't align up you can always take no1 plug out and watch the piston come to the top dead center. (but thats only if the original marks don't align up.) I have never had to touch the ignition timing when doing them un-less the customer has asked for it. (never done it on mine) In a bnut shell it's not hard the key is making some marks before you undo anything! Hope this helps you any more questions please just ask. Cheers Booth. Rustynuts 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Just to add - get the 2 pronged cambelt tensioner tool, just makes life loads easier tensioning the belt.
steveo29 0 Posted January 27, 2010 there is no locking tool for these if its right now and you do a good job then you shouldnt need to mess with the dizzy timing , although its never a bad idea to check that its right
