Moving location - to bath

Recommended Posts

Hi all, moving from exeter to bath at the end of the month, just wanted to see if there was anyone with corrado interest/love in bath area, and if anyone could suggest good mechanics/painters/parts suppliers in the area. Have bought a house with a good sized garage so some serious work is in the pipeline!

Tim :D :D

Hi :)

Quite a few of us in South Glos/ Gloucester/ Forest of Dean area. We occasionally meet at the Compass Inn at Tormarton (just of M4).

Also have regular meets at the Hot Air Balloon in Birdlip and join up with the midlands group sometimes having joint meetings up here and in the Worcester.

We are not too far from DG Autotech in Worcester - they guys who really love Corrados and know what they are about - you'll probably have heard of them before as they have an A+++ rating on here - many travel a lot, lot further than you would have to have work done with them

Good luck with the move! A good sized garage is a bonus

Hi mate, I'm in bath but sadly no longer a corrado owner as of a few weeks ago. Theres 3 or 4 C's I see regularly about but other than a few waves I've not had any contact with them and don't think they're on here.

Garage wise try GCS which is a good local service but not a VW specialist. The volkswagen main dealership in Newbridge are fairly easy to bargain with especially on service costs, and the service is A1 but you do get stitched up on parts costs if your not careful. I used to use Vee W services in Bristol though - the guys there know there stuff and are dirt cheap - £30ph labour cost. You can walk ther from temple meads station as well which is handy.

What sort of corrado have you got ??

'93 vr, was still loving her and keen to go until some varmit broke into her last night ??without any damage?? And halfinched the double din unit I was building in. All whilst the car was parked on my drive! Could strangle the little beggar right now as much work has gone into building up the centre console for that unit. Lost a bit of love for her now and might standardise her and sell on, not sure, might find the vr excitement again soon.

What do you drive now mate? Where bouts in bath are you?

Sh1t mate, genuinely gutted for you...nothing worse than having your car broken into. Where abouts in Bath was that ??? There doesn't seem to be much car crime in Bath, so I'm surprised. Only ever been broken into once, and that was my dads mx5 I borrowed for the weekend a couple of years ago - the soft top made it easy pickings.

I'm on the Newbridge Road - Bristol side. Easy for the daily commute basically.

I ended up barely using the corrado so don't really need a car now - moneys in the bank just waiting for the right Mk2 to come up basically.

You'll find the love for yours again tho mate. Give me a PM if you want details of any of the garages, or anything else Bath based generally.........

Gave the car to the VW dealership as was running close to time, need new rear axle bushes to pass the MOT and they've quoted £380 for the work and parts with VAT included. Also have got a hole in the exhaust as of 4 days ago, told the cat cover is loose, and that the silencer is past it, so sounds like total new exhaust is needed. They've quoted around £700 for the work and ive said no thanks!! Right, need suggestions on decent exhausts and where to get them round this area, also any difficulties in replacing the exhaust on the rado??

Appreciate any advice

Try the exhaust discussion thread for manufacturers http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25077&start=510

I went to Top Gear in Bristol for my exhaust - got a cat back powerflow system for £315 fitted and thought the fit was excellent - although to be expected really as it took the guy 3 days. He doesn't really know VW's though but will fit a system you bring to him - I was hoping to get a dub-power but just couldn't afford one in the end.

Don't think there's anywhere I'd go in Bath though.

Also bargain hard at VW, the lady there (Sally I think ?) always seemed to drop her price pretty easily although still a bit overpriced imo. At least you get a free wash and vac !

Try these for the exhaust http://www.bristolexhausts.co.uk/. The system is guarentee'd for life; well as long as it is on the Corrado. My original had it done 8 yrs ago. Still sounds lovely and last year it started blowing, a quick phone call and at the folowing weekend I took it to them. While there they also replaced most of the rubber bungs. Cost nothing . You can buy a straight through system and then just put the cat on when it MOT time.
