8vMatt 1 Posted March 31, 2010 Hey guys Since I've had my VR I've noticed if I do a slow 3 point turn for example, the steering gives a slight clunk feeling back through the steering wheel. Once you are driving around there is nothing and it drives brilliantly. The previous owner had Bilstein and Boge springs and shocks fitted (been told of a 40mm drop), not sure if/ when any bushes and mounts have been changed. I have been thinking of getting new VR or R32 bushes etc for the suspension setup. Would you think that could solve my clunking noise or should I be looking at something else? Many thanks for any advise guys, Matt.
V-Dubstar 0 Posted March 31, 2010 I had a similar thing on my mk3 - it was a CV joint. But I ain't no mechanic... :)
Critical_Mass 10 Posted March 31, 2010 What V-dubstar said. If its going click click click on when held on full lock, its CV joints.
8vMatt 1 Posted March 31, 2010 Cheers guys. Anyone have any approx prices and part no's would be great. Are we talking about a split boot so there's no grease on the joint? Or a knackered joint itself?
mrbeige 0 Posted March 31, 2010 If it's a split boot, the centrifugal forces will soon jettison it, and thus the CV wont last that long. If it's been doing it for a while, then I'd think it'll need replacing.
