Airbox wont fit?

Recommended Posts

Alright people, picked up a standard airbox for the VR6 last weekend, i've tried to fit it but the top will not line up with the bottom (fits together fine off the car) looks like the MAF is too big or the plastic elbow that fits onto the back of that, could this be possible? Top of the airbox is about an inch out forwards from the bottom?

Any help would be much appriciated

thanks

Adam

your doing something wrong mate, the airbox sits in 3 mounting points and it all just fits together easily. are you sure the airbox is from a corrado and not a golf vr6 as they do differ.

get a pic or two up, if you get stuck i can pop over one evening.

Yeah its sitting bang on, going to have another look now, defo from a VR Corrado. Was wondering if the maf or plastic elbow was from a Golf. I'll get some pics up too

its def not the MAF as its a 6 pin MAF, and i'm sure all the golf vr's had the 4 pin MAF.

on the third picture down it looks like you have some non standard black rubber piping inserted into the elbow?? making the MAF pointing to far forward??

That looks like an early MAF with the later plastic versus rubber MAF air pipe

Seem to be getting somewhere now! What do i need then (or not) to fit this airbox?

Cheers bud

You need the earlier rubber concertinered hose from MAF to throttle body rather than the later 6 pin OBD1 plastic hose you have now...

Cheers, thanks for the info. Thought there might be a difference between the hoses in the first place!
