A5 VRX 0 Posted June 12, 2010 Are these the same company? Want to start getting bits together for a front overhaul, wishbones, track rod ends etc etc. Are these any good or is it best to go genuine/GSF on everything? Thanks Adam
bananawhip 0 Posted June 13, 2010 I use AVS (vwspares.co.uk) all the time. It's all OE stuff mainly and for that I'd rate them higher then GSF and loads cheaper then VW
joby 0 Posted June 14, 2010 They are the same company! and i have done exactly what you are looking at doing with with avs bits, the only thing i would say is don`t use the Top mounts as mine have already failed after 12 months  Top tip! Only use original Top Mounts! Good service from AVS though and he knows his stuff and is a nice bloke, would deffo use them again
Yandards 0 Posted June 14, 2010 They mostly sell Febi branded parts which I think are the best of the aftermarket stuff. However, all the rubber bits don't last a fraction of the time the VW stuff does (12 months for top mounts, disbonded rear beam bushes in 18 months etc) so I would just save up the extra and go genuine. Supercharged 2 Posted June 14, 2010 VWspares is AVS - Volkspares is a completly different company - http://www.volkspares.co.uk/ As above they are a good supplier of pattern stuff but I wouldn't use any of it for suspension type stuff - it simply doesn't last. I've had febi top mounts barely last a year, ball joints, wheel bearings, cv boots, bushes all wear out between 1-2 years when you only get a 1 year warranty. Genuine stuff isn't that much more as most of it crosses over to a MK2/3 Golf or Passat and comes with a 2 year warranty. Cosidering the hassle of changing stuff constantly and getting the allignment done I would just change everything and keep it original VW - should be good for another 10 years then!
