Ignition timing

Hi all

 

Have done a serach but am looking for a guide on how to check the ignition timing. i used to have a mk2 golf gti and that had 2 marks on the flywheel through the bell housing inspection hole. Is it the same principle on the corrados? I have had a look in the and there is 2 timing marks, one is a faint line with a circle on the end and the other is a slightly thicker line without a circle! Am i right in thinking one is tdc and the other is the timing mark? I have an advanced gun so could do it off the tdc marker if i knew the degrees setting. Its a 1990 1.8kr and the distributer is on the end of the camshaft.

just the same as a gti

 

disconect the red/black wire under the coil before setting it

 

its 6 degs
