Tedb 0 Posted September 2, 2010 My 16valver has started to idle High, particularly noticeable in Traffic, feels like the choke is on constantly even when warmed up, idling at approx 1100RPM, also when starting in the morning the Cold Start Valve would appear not to be kicking in and the car cuts out a bit initially as the idle is jumping up and down from 1000 R.PM. to approx. 0 RPM, then once warmed up it's ok for a while, then it starts idling high, even on a drive of a couple of miles out of traffic, the choke is definitely on. Faulty Cold Start Valve? or some sort of Engine Temp. Sensor? ISV was replaced a year ago with a new one so I know it's unlikely to be this, it's been runnign fine up to now. davidwort 0 Posted September 2, 2010 need to do a thorough check of all the vacuum hoses, breather hoses and the air intake rubber boots first, then providing the engine is running cleanly (plugs are clean) and emissions right, then get the ECU scanned and start checking individual components like the temperature senders on the side of the head.
