Corrado vr6 rack into golf GTI mk2 8v

hi ya the steering rack on my brothers mk2 8v (1989) has started leaking all its power steering fluid through the boots on the tie rods, :( so im guessing i am going to have to replace the rack, i have a rack from a vr6 corrado available to me, and wondering if it would fit in the golf, any help would me much appreciated,, :wink:

The track rods will be to long. fit the ones off the golf to the VR6 rack and it should work.

i ve put a golf VR6 rack on my corrado, like PhatVR6 says you have to change the track rods, but also on mine the universal joints which come off the steering column had a different kind of spline on,

yours maybe different because its a corrado rack :?

 

i ended up making a up a section using parts from both cars so i could use the steering column of the corrado and the rack from the VR6.

 

hope you understand me, i am not the best at explaining things :(
