G60 Cam

Can anyone recomend a uprated cam for the G60?

 

i was going to get a piper 285 but the guy selling it has decided to keep it :cry:

I've heard that a shrick 276 is the way to go, - any more than this and you'll mess with the power band too much and make the engine all peaky.

The piper bp270 is a good cam once it was all setup it had a very good power curve all the way through the rev range. You dont really want anything more extremem as you will lose the smooth idle!

To be honest i am not to bothered about a having a smooth idle, the car isnt a daily driver so doesnt really matter.

 

there seems quite a lot of choice, even companys such as piper produce a couple of different ones :?

had a look at a couple of cams here are the specs

 

cam. power band, bhp, duration, lift

piper270, 2000-6000, 12, 260, 10.87

kentGS4H, 1500-6000, 14, 266, 11.17

piper285, 2400-6500, 18, 268, 11.13

 

the engine has been lightened and balanced so i dont think the higher reving would be a problem, although if the power band was higher would i lose some torque?

 

cant find any info on the shrick cams at the moment, the piper cams seem a little cheaper which is always a bonus

 

reading on the vortex forums they seem to use bigger cams for cars which have had head work, my heads been ported and polished, its still using the same size valves though :?

 

Banana man - have you got this cam? did you see the gains that they quote?

 

also can the G60 cam be used in the cross flow heads?

I would go for something like a 252-260 inlet with 10,5-11mm lift and 272-278 exhaust with 11,1-11,2 lift
