stib 0 Posted November 22, 2010 My engine is currently on a stand atm and heard storys about the crank bolt shearing off, heard the bolts of a DX Mk1 golf are a perfect replacment, i bought a new bolt and asked for a dx crank bolt and its the same as the one thats on there atm, is it too risky to use the crank bolt off a Dx gti engine ? boost monkey 0 Posted November 22, 2010 I'm taking a wild stab in the dark here, but are you talking about the G60 engine? The topic isn't very clear.
stib 0 Posted November 23, 2010 Yep G60, heard the bolts off a 1.8 gti mk1 golf are stronger.
Supercharged 2 Posted November 23, 2010 The DX bolt is 6 sided and requires a washer, the original is a 12pt bolt with built in washer - the new standard PG/G60 bolts that VW sell are fine now.
