16VG60 1 Posted January 21, 2011 Yes the distributor rotor arm is removeable and can be replaced without renewal of the distributor. Sounds like you have the usual problem of the rotor arm being stuck on to the distributor spindle. To avoid excessive force being transmitted to the distributor spindle by tugging at the rotor arm repeatedly, your best bet is to use a pair of large water pump pliers to carefully crush the rotor arm base attatchment therein breaking the rotor arm away from the spindle. Sounds brutal but if done with care is quick and effective. Before you fit the replacement lightly lube the spindle with LM grease, to avoid same problem next time.
