Daves tornado red ABF

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm Dave, 20 from just outside Kilmarnock in Ayrshire. I've been a regular visitor to the forum for a while now but havent really posted much myself but i've had an accident and smashed my fingertip bone and sliced my finger open so as i cant work on my raddo for a while i thought it would be a good time to start a thread about it!

I bought my corrado last june from carlisle as a reasonable tidy car with a fresh respray. It was originally a kr but after owning it for a couple of months a major oil leak took out the big end bearings. I took this oppertunity to drop in an abf, pretty much strip, clean, paint, polybush and rebuild the front end and she was back on the road in october. I used her for a few months and sorted out idle problems and lack of power by correctly setting up the k jet and fitting a new isv controller before taking her off the road in december for the winter and to get some more work done. So i've currently got it in bits in

my garage and have been working through my to do list after work and at weekends:

Engine out and cleaned up, replace gaskets

Fit ported and polished head

lighten and balance flywheel

recondition and paint calipers and run new brake lines

grooved and vented disks with greenstuff pads

rear beam off, painted and polybushed

kw v1 coilovers

4 branch manifold

vdo gauges install in centre console

sort out audio

hid kit

and a general clean up

I'm kind of in the middle of most of this work and thought i'd post up a few pics :)

good work there :salute:

good strong engine the mk3 ABF, best head and block development VW made with the 16v engine, be interested to see the torque and power plots if you ever get it on a rolling road.

thanks for the comments. Well i'm getting the p+p head from rctech motorsport on ebay. (dont know if anyone has heard of this guy?) but he has told me i need to get it rolling road set up for the fuel pressure after fittting the head so i will have power plots before its back on the road. :) will keep updating my progress!
