somersetdub 0 Posted January 26, 2011 Hi, I'm currently in the process of replacing the radiator on my vr6, I have some DG brackets and have one 11" spal fan on order as I've heard a few times that one is enough?? Anyway, I am trying to find out a definitive method to wire the fan up. Currently there is a (in-line) 3 pin switch in the rad and the original fan has four wires, 3 fat, one thin.. Is it just a case if joining the three fat wires together for the positive, with the thin wire being the negative?
h6 vwc 0 Posted January 26, 2011 I did mine by wiring live to the thinnest red n white wire (i think), and the earth to the fat brown one which is earth in the loom. This way only gives u stage 1 fan speed though
fla 9 Posted January 27, 2011 yes, brown is the negative, then just bridge the red and red/white wires (iirc) which are speeds 1 & 2. They all have 12v the step down speeds are in the original motor itself, but it just means if one fails for whatever reason it'll come on at the temp for the second speed
