jimpy66 0 Posted February 3, 2011 When I turn on ignition (but dont start car) I can hear a fairly loud pump churning away in engine bay. I'm guessing its the fuel pump- but its blooming noisy, sounds as if it is churning some air as well as fuel- anyone got any ideas as to whether its just on way out or can I do anything to help it? Dan_Storm 0 Posted February 3, 2011 Sounds like it could be the auxiliary water pump? Can you place what part of the engine bay the noise is coming from?
jimpy66 0 Posted February 3, 2011 Ah- didn't know there was one- the sound comes from the back right side of engine- seem likely? It does sound like water
Dan_Storm 0 Posted February 4, 2011 Yep, thats where the pump is located. I have circled it below. I think they do generally make a bit of noise. If you do a search there is probably a way of testing the pump, but if it is making a racket then it sound like it may have had it. dscf0093.jpg[/attachment:1ult1yob]
