OllieVR6 0 Posted February 21, 2011 Hi all, I'm trying to sort out my alarm and related parts as I'm not happy with the current state of it all. With the car ('94 VR) I received, 1 key with a transponder (I opened the key to confirm), 1 alarm fob and 1 immobiliser 'token' labelled 'Autowatch'. From what I have managed to research it's all factory fitted kit and tbh past it's best and so it's time for a refresh. As I understand it, the car came with factory central locking and full closure. The alarm is the wired in to give remote keyless central locking, and an immobiliser was installed. I am going to strip out the alarm (I think it's a scorpion 918) because as far as I can tell, it can no longer be serviced, and I'll probably fit a rightclick kit to keep the remote central locking and full closure. I also need a new key (for a spare) but from what I can tell I have to go to a dealer and pay a lot of money to get it coded due to the transponder, is this right? What is the difference between the transponder and immobiliser? Is that not like having two immobilisers installed? The immobilizer fob looks like this and without it on my keyring, the car doesn't start.
