stu37 0 Posted June 6, 2011 Hi guys I have recently rebuilt my VR6 corrado after my old gearbox failed and have to say she has been running better than ever with the exception of the gearchange... When connecting the cable change back together I could not help but notice that the rubber which secures the looped cable appeared to be missing a captive piece to stop it coming off, since I have attempted to use various washers which simply bind the gearchange until the bolt loosens and then gear changing is a bit.......fruity!!! Could anyone expand on my knowledge of the collection of parts. Eg... Bolt, ?.... (plate, washer...) Rubber, Cable end, ?.....(washer...) Captive nut? Any help would be much appreciatted guys as I understand how it needs to work, the bolt locking to secure the selected position but with enough allowance for the rubber to freely twist, but I get a feeling a trip to vw is needed for the correct bits and pieces. Many thanks guys )
davidwort 0 Posted June 6, 2011 the parts are designed to allow free movement (turning) of the cable end bush on the shift mounting arm, diagram and a pic of the cable end removed from part (54) below: are we talking about the same parts, not the selector lever or at the other end the connections to the actual gearlever?
