nrc 0 Posted June 30, 2011 Hi all, I've recently had some work done to the aircon system in my VR6 (dealer-fitted Diavia) and now the servo controlling the cold air inlet flap under the bonnet doesn't operate when the fan is switched on. It's going back for rectification, but I'm trying to clarify how it should work. My thinking is that the flap should be open when the fan is on unless the aircon is also switched on (for recirculation). Can anyone confirm or deny this? fla 9 Posted June 30, 2011 the flap should be open when just teh fan is used, in norm it closes about half and in max it closes fully. There is a motor on the top, just below the leaf filter, which operates the flap on a rack & pinion. Try using direct power on this and also check that teh flap itself is not jammed. nrc 0 Posted July 1, 2011 Thanks for that Hasan. Mine looks like a bit of a bodge job on the part of the dealer as the rack extends up through the foliage filter so there's a hole in it. Also it never used to open part way - only closed or fully open. I'm pretty sure the garage that did the aircon work just never reconnected it properly so I'll pass on this info and they'll sort it when it's in next week. I did look at reducing the length of the rack on the operating motor but if you cut it down you wouldn't be able to have the flap either fully open or fully closed depending on how you mounted it.
