ryanmac 10 Posted October 17, 2011 Hi all I am in the process of rebuilding my front brakes which are 312mm from an audi s3. They came fitted to the car but I am wondering what the difference would be if I fitted the normal 280mm brakes but with uprated pads and discs with braided hoses and 5.1 fluid which would then allow me to fit 15" wheels for track days. The 312mm discs a standard along with standard pads. The following on from this though is if they do the corrado sebring alloys in a five stud pattern as I did have a set on a golf but in 4 stud as they would be my alloys of choice... krishen 2 Posted October 17, 2011 Im sure you can change to 288mm carriers and keep the caliper you have at the moment. They will fit under 15" wheels. The difference between 280mm and 288mm is pretty big (in my opinion). I didn't think the 280's were that bad until i changed up.
beastie4126 0 Posted October 17, 2011 288's have a larger pad area when compared to the 280's and trust me you would notice the difference if you went back to 280's from 312's. If you want to down size to 288's use the carriers from Audi A3 or Golf Mk4 and Golf mk3 288 discs.
