edd 0 Posted December 12, 2011 Evening all as per title any tips on best way to remove oil residue from the cooling system having had the oil cooler fail. I've flushed a fair bit so only light residue now but I'd like it to be a lot clearer. Read all sorts, most off the shelf system flushes seem to be more descale biased. Lots of talk about dish washing machine detergent, but the thought of that terrifies me ;). A no no in my eyes. Anyone give me any advice reference products or process?? Cheers Edd
fla 9 Posted December 12, 2011 VW have a rad flush - its an orange fluid in a 5 litre drum. About £25. Once you've flushed your system with water, fill it with this top up and run the car up to temp. Leave for an hour drain, rinse and refill with new coolant.
Rustynuts 0 Posted December 12, 2011 Or for a much cheaper version use bicarbonate of soda. This is the dishwasher method basically. You won't do any damage and you don't get suds with this method
