New Battery for VR6. Which one and where from?

Recommended Posts

Just got my corrado mot'd after being parked up for 5 months and seems the battery is goosed.

Need a replacement ASAP. I heard good things about Varta and Bosch. Any recommendations of best to buy and where from?

Thanks guys. The Bosch ones look good, although do you have to mount them upside down? So positive on the left and negative on the right? My current battery is a Delphi and its mounted this way.

Sounds like the wiring is the wrong way round???? never heard that before. should be as you look into the bay from directly in front + on the left - on the right. You can just see the positive terminal in the picture.

When looking into bay from the front. The positive is on the left and negative is on the side but battery is mounted with writing upside down. So Bosch would read 'hcsoB' if you see what I mean. I don't have a battery cover, maybe that's why it is bothering me.

Looking at this Bosch battery it would have to be mounted upside down for terminals to fit?

I think I know what you're on about, it's not upside down... that would suggest the terminals would be facing the ground when mounted.

The terminals would face inwards rather than outwards, so the picture displayed here...

... would have to be turned 180...

My Varta will be 10 years old in June.

I do, though, have the car wired to a trickle charger most of the time. Keeping it charged properly extends the life. So many Corrado batteries have been replaced when they went flat (as many are drained in a fortnight if car not used).
