Elliot N 10 Posted February 26, 2012 Hey guys, finally bought a Corrado after years of wanting one, got it home and it has developed a knocking noise from the engine :(, the car also has a lack of power and if you tap the throttle all the way down when stationary the engine does not respond well and just feels like its going to cut out, if the throttle is put down lightly however, you can get the revs up, the Corrado also needs some throttle to start from cold and warm, I have read a couple of forum posts which point it at either the ignition timing of the engine which cause the knocking sound, and poor running of the engine, the air meter on the top of the air box, a blow in the exhaust system or god forbid the bearings in the bottom end wearing out, the car is a 1990 VW Corrado 1.8 16v with the KR engine, it has done 158,000 miles and is a little smokey. Help please!
Wild-Animal 0 Posted February 26, 2012 I take it you have checked the oil level. It does not take much for these engines to not be running right. If you can take it to a garage and get the CO checked and the ignition timing.
