Custom charge after delivery from USA ??

Recently ordered some stuff for my Corrado from USA. Custom charges apply as usually but was surprised when got parcel without paying them on front. Today got a letter from courier to pay tax for a parcel which was delivered over a week ago.

 

Just wondering what happened if I won't pay ??

I bought a couple of things from the USA and Royal Mail paid everything then charged me before I could have it delivered. Not sure what they'd do if you didnt pay?

if they're sent normal post keep binning the letters till they don't come anymore.. they wont bother after a while unless you owe them hundreds..

 

if youve had to sign for the letters you might have to cough up..

I would just pay them - they've usually paid the customs fees upfront to get it into the country, so you do owe them money. If you didn't pay they could quite legitimately pass it on to a debt collection agency...

 

In my experience ParcelForce usually send you a letter demanding payment before they'll deliver, but FedEx and UPS usually deliver first and then send you a bill later. In fact I got a ParcelForce letter today for my bits from SpoonFed!

Had this happen with something I received as a gift quite a few years back from the states - was followed up with a customs charge bill a few weeks later. Won't name the courier but I just ignored it and never heard from them again.

I had a parcel delivered in November from the States, then like you I got a letter, just ignored it !

Liking the outcome of this thread, so just ignore the bill and it just goes away. Like it.

Received a parcel from the States this morning,(it was only posted Monday) No custom fees, nothing !
