Just purchased my new corrado

YES AFTER FALLING FOR THEM A FEW MONTHS AGO JUST PURCHASED MY CORRADO , ITS ON A M PLATE, WITH FULL SERVICE HISTORY, MILEAGE IS 60100 GENIUE MILES , ALL THE OLD MOT AND SERVICE HISTORY IT SILVER IN COLOUR AND NO SUNROOF AND NEW MOT IT HAS A BASIC 8VALVE 1800 ENGINE SAME AS I HAD IN MY OLD MARK 3 GOLF GTI, WHICH I AM TOLD IS BOMB PROOF I AM TOLD:cheers::cheers::cheers:

Itll be a 2.0 engine bud.. Sounds good though, looking forward to pics
thanks guys i hope these photos will help you its got low mileage and to be honest to find a low mileage vr6 which i like would cost me over £4500 for a good one , so any advice and spare for this 8 vavle motor let us know please also i want to buya cambelt kit and service kit and brake before i use her any idea where i can get them for a good price will ket kit hopefully to fit and service the car asap i hope

good god m8 you been busy the pixie dust has reallt been flying in brecon just order a new sport stainless steel exhaust system just got to wait now for my new headlight switch to come and kit will be fitting my new suspesion units and might have also coming my 17ins wolfrace alloys wheels to come too so yes the pixi and fairy dust will be flying in brecon

Suspension and brakes done, fitted new front top mounts as the old ones were the originals and pretty much worn out, front bump stops/gaiters were just fine so I reused them. All callipers removed, front pistons freed off and carriers cleaned, pads reinstalled correctly with Copper grease. The rear pad's were fine and both callipers work properly so I left them alone save for greasing the sliders and pad edges.

 

I'm going to order you some new front strut to wheel baring housing bolts tomorrow morning from TPS, I'll have them by 11am. They are stretch items and should be replaced, I'll set the camber up properly after I fit the new bolts.

 

As you can see the exhaust is shagged, for some reason the front box is welded to the Cat, I can sort that though no problem. Any news on the replacement?

i can now see the exhaust was well and truly knacked would last 2 second , now i got a new shiny stainless steel comp pne to go on it will go alot better many thanks again kit see you soon will have to post more photos when new one on soon and the light switch in place m8

Some pic's of Gabriel's new exhaust system from eBay. Looks very well made to me and a bargain for 200 quid! The proof will be in the fitting tomorrow, I've been building today but I have all day tomorrow to devote to finishing off Gab's car. Fitted a new ignition coil yesterday for good measure and there's a pic of how I like my basic tools to be laid out as well as some shots of the car, not enough space in my workshop to do her justice. Got a few cosmetics to do as well as the tracking and camber and she'll be ready to go!!!

 

Gab, you should get the tracking and camber check again in 1K miles time as it will have settled in by then.

Must be the month of fitting new exhaust systems..This is the 2nd or 3rd post I ve seen about corrado receiving new exhaust systems. Hope it all goes well. I have yet to fit mine too :)

Found you a lock mate, got no key unfortunately but as your central locking works perfectly from the drivers door it's got to better than no lock at all. As I demonstrated last night, I was in in under Five seconds armed with a small screw driver.

 

Got some high quaility main beam bulbs I'm going to fit along with the uprated dip items you gave me last night. The lamps themselves are in spot on condition, no stone chips or condensation and the reflectors are like new.

 

Will post up some pic's of the exhaust fitted and some other bit's and bob's tomorrow night.

 

I'm not replacing any parts just for the sake of it, I can tell just from bouncing the car that the dampers have done a world of good, she should drive like new as all the bushes and ball joints are in excellent condition, I've fitted new front top mounts to be on the safe side. The current exhaust is beyond economic repair IMO.

 

Still can't believe I'm working on Bonnie Tylers old car, cool bit of history.

Looks cool, VERY Yellow!!! Is that an original VAG colour? Guessing it's from the 'life style range', what power plant does she have? EDIT- juat looked at your pic's again, take it she's a 2.0 16V?

 

Nought wrong with running a Raddo as a daily, they make fantastic every day cars, far more practical than the sporty body belies. Once my chargers been done my G60 will have been serviced to death so she'?ll be on the road all summer as my daily, going to take her over too the Isle of Mann in late August for the Manx GP, just like the TT but cheaper and a lot less busy with more interesting classes such as classic bikes. Whilst enjoying my fully refreshed Corrado I plan on installing a 6A 2.0 short-stroke Audi botttom end and a skimmed and pressure tested recon KR head I have to hand into my MK II 16v Golf along with some pretty serious suspension and brake upgrades. Stich welding the subframe and wish-bones, using a Corrado anti roll bar with some special home brewed mounts that are MUCH stiffer than standard along with all new poly bushes. Brakes are coming from a 1994 V6 Audi Coupe (280mm) I have all the parts, just need the time.

 

Then when I get a spare Five min's I'll finish the breather system on my S2, which requires some specialist alloy welding to complete, so far it's cost 300 quid in braided hose and AN fitting's alone. I never do half a job, hence why it's taken me Two yearsto get the S2 as want it.

 

I want to leave my G60 as standard as possible, just a few subtly planned mod's to individualise the car to my taste, such as Black badges, OE leather interior trim package ect. I certainly don't plan on tuning it with smaller pully's/chips etc, I like it just as it is. I have the S2 for mental performance and my Golf is no Slough either, should be like a rocket with the 6A!

Exhaust fitted. Took a bit of faffing about and very careful positioning of the centre box to get satisfactory clearance over the rear axle, it's very tight there and the clamp has to go on certain angle to get it to work. I would not recommend fitting this system unless you have good mechanical knowledge and either a pit or ramp, I don't think I'd have managed without my pit and a decent dose of patience. Removing the old system was a PITA as for some unknown reason the front box had been welded to the Cat, which took a a bit of sorting with a mini grinder.

 

The new system sounds good, nowhere near as loud as I expected with a nice deep tone, the quality and fit is also very good. But this is not a system that can just be thrown on, the brackets need careful positioning and as I have mentioned correct fitment of the middle box is crucial otherwise there would be clearance issues with the rear axle.

 

Did the tracking and camber on the front, need to take her for a spin tomorrow morning then check it again before I fit the new stretch bolts and do a final torque up of all fixings.

 

Fitted the new headlight switch, vast improvement!!!

 

Totalled up my hours so far and the parts, best your sat down when I give you the total as I've put a lot of time into this car, however it's now like new mechanically and will give you many years of reliable service and enjoyment. Going to spend another few hours on her tomorrow, doing final checks and fitting the new front stretch bolts once I've double checked the camber after a test drive. Just got the door lock and the leather gaiter to do to finish her off a treat. I'm not building tomorrow so I'll have more than enough time to ensure your completely happy with the car. She's a good un all right and having no sunroof is a major plus point in my book.

yes VEWRY yellow looks like its original colour as far as i can tell its a 1.8 so only a baby raddo but good enough for me not going to do too much ( well not planning on doing loads but i never say never ) for now its just a clean and tidy up and see how it goes

The stretch bolts are the the fixings between the bottom of the front shock and wheel baring housing, which should always be replaced when replacing shocks as they are torqued up beyond their elastic limit. I got the genuine items from TPS, which come in at 20 quid. I wouldn't even consider using non genuine bolts as these are crucial to safety.
