Rocket Ron 1 Posted July 31, 2012 Hi Im changing my starter motor (long shaft type) as an ongong refurb. Having taken it off i did notice that there was some sort of bush on the end but it was broken. Having seen some pictures of a replacement starter with what looks like a copper bush. Does anyone know what this does as I went to get a replacement and it didnt have one. Any advise as I have just ordered another one (Lucas).

wormy 0 Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks where can I get one I guess your local stealership will have this. They had for my G60 (in Norway though..) Otherwise, maybe GSF or similar stores might have it. Be careful when inserting them, they're brittle and easily destroyed.
fla 9 Posted August 1, 2012 yes, GSF have them.
Rocket Ron 1 Posted August 2, 2012 Got one. Have managed to get the remains of the old bush out. Do you knock it in first before putting the startwer motor back on.
Fine wine, Belgian chocs. 1 Posted August 2, 2012 Yes. It should just tap easily into place. I don't know what access is like but on Beetles I used to pop the bush on the end of a big bolt with a big nut on it and tap it in with that.
