Recommended Posts

VR6 | Moonlight Blue | Southwick (Nr Brighton)

Price: £2,700

Description:

A 93’ Moonlight Blue Corrado VR6 which unfortunately needs to go to make way for a baby (not literally).

I bought it in 2006 and have spent a lot of time keeping it in excellent working order, including making a small number of select modifications following the advice on this forum.

Main details:

- Registered 1993

- 153k miles

- Moonlight blue

- Grey leather interior

- Tax until October 2012

- MOT until October 2013

- Location: Southwick (Nr Brighton)

- Price: £2,700

Modifications

- Front Brakes: 1996 Golf VR6 288 calipers, carriers, discs and pads, goodridge stainless steel hoses

- Rear Brakes: Golf Mk4 stainless steel, goodridge stainless steel hoses

- 6 branch stainless steel exhaust manifold

- Magnex cat-back stainless steel exhaust

- +10 bhp ECU chip

- 17” BBS alloys with locking wheel nuts

- Lupo wipers

- Custom polished and powder coated manifold and rocker cover

- Alpine CD head unit with ipod cable connection (head unit controls the ipod via a cable hidden in the glovebox)

- Cat 2 insurance recognised immobiliser, full closure alarm (2 sets of keys and fobs)

Recent main work:

- Timing chains, tensioner and all associated parts replaced March 2011 (as per the Wiki article on this forum)

- Front cross member shot blasted and painted with Por15 March 2011

- New front wishbones and ball joints December 2011

- Cam cover gasket replaced by John Mitchell Racing February 2012

- New door seals March 2011

- Laser wheel alignment and camber March 2012

Lots more not listed, I’ve got the full history of work/receipts etc available for viewing.

Bits that could do with some attention at some point:

- There are some stonechips in the bonnet (typical for its age)

- The corners of the bumpers have lost some paint and the rear bumper is cosmetically cracked on one corner

- The slam panel and driver’s door each have a small amount of rust

- The sunroof didn’t work when I bought it and I’ve not got around to dealing with it (again a typical one and I doubt very difficult to fix)

- The driver’s side front wheel could do with a refurb

Overall the car is in great condition, the engine pulls like a train and makes a great noise. The fogs and headlights are unchipped, spoiler works as intended, ABS light switches off when it should, blower and other electrics all work, leather in great condition etc...

In 2009 I put it on a rolling road and it produced 189bhp (I have the output graphs). The technician took it off the ramp and said ‘not much to say – awesome’.

Happy to accommodate any questions or viewing requests.
