Valve cover gasket

Recommended Posts

Am i correct in thinking that there are two different rocker cover gaskets for the VR6, on the suits cars up to 1995 and another for just 1995 year?

I thought that there was just 1 type but after posting on ED38 to find out where the oil was coming from i was told there was two different types.......

I think i need partnumber; 021103483D (thats what shows on vagcat)

My VR is a 93 and has a slight weep on the rocker cover that i need to sort over winter along with all the usual bits and bobs so im just starting to source parts now.

Cheers

Yes. 2 different ones. I believe early 95 was obd1 and late 95 was obd2. Which "rocker" cover do you have?? That will provide the answer.

Obd1 is a regular rubber flat style gasket for the aluminum valve cover.

Obd2 is a rubber gasket that is integrated into the plastic valve cover.

Hopefully my information is correct.

This is the one i had left over and is for the plastic cover (sold it to robosri22)

I think the metal type cover has the 3 half moons cut out on the right hand side of engine (timing chain side) whereas the plastic one doesn't
