Parkervr6 10 Posted December 28, 2012 Hi guys So my engines gone. Can I put a 2.8 vr6 engine in my corrado vr6? Is it just a plug for plug swap or do I need other things I.e. ecu etc Thanks
Hofmiester 10 Posted December 29, 2012 If you want to fit an engine with 20bhp less then go ahead ;) Seriously though, I would wait for a 2.9 to become available. Also the later golf 2.8 engines had obd2 where as the corrado is obd1, this means you'll have to change the Ecu and loom. Easier to buy a 2.
captainredeye 0 Posted December 29, 2012 Read the obd2 conversion guide! The block and head is the same so will swap over obd2 is just the engine management and wiring it connects to the manifold and throttle body so those will need to be off of a obd2 car other than that yes it's a little less power but it can be done. Easier to buy a 2.9 If he put all of the inlet from his 2.9 he wont be seeing 20 bhp less! The 2.8 and the 2.9 odb1 engines are almost the same
