GCDG60 0 Posted April 27, 2004 hi guys, went to vw and they quoted me £475 for a cambelt, powerstering belt and charger belt change, said no way! the mecanic at vw has had a lot of experience on g60 engines and all corrados so he pulled me to one side for a word!, i left the car at his house and bought the parts, he changed all 3 belts for 100, in one night, also did my oil change, car is running beautiful, if neone in the birmingham area needs work doing, just let me know, i assure u he is a great guy, you will be pleased!!

PhatVR6 0 Posted April 27, 2004 Why didn't you just do it yourself, it wouldn't have cost you anything other than the parts then? why is it, that golf owner  s will have a go at fixing their cars, but corrado owners won't, when essentially, it's the same car underneath?? jedi-knight83 0 Posted April 27, 2004 i had this with my honda.... luckily one of the guys in the workshop had owned a couple of crx's and does private work on the side so i get him to come to my house and do all the work here....he said he would do the vr6 aswell but id rather find a VW mechanic to be honest! Yeah, but you do get free coffee at the stealers, so that kind of justifies it. :) ...toss aren't they, how they rip the p#ss and still smile to your face, as if your gonna say , 'oooh, yes please only £475, that's not bad at all., please take the shirt off my back too'....
Jim 2 Posted May 6, 2004 VW Dealers do themselves no favours at all. You wouldn't mind so much if you knew you were getting a veteran VW technician for that kind of money, but these days you are more likely to get someone who has never even seen a Corrado.. these backstreet or 'friend of a friend who knows this guy' type mechanics seem to work out best for most people - either that or a VW specialist. £190 to have the headgasket done isn't that bad at all.
