rado_peril 0 Posted March 30, 2013 Hi, Got a problem with my valver (1.8 KR model). Since I bought car the immobiliser has never been used - previous owner said it was not working and not sure why. Decided to check it out and put battery in the fob (Quantum Alarm) pressed it (something flashed on the dash) and now the car wont start! There is nothing from the key turn, it wont crank. Given that it did before it must be immobiliser?? I've been looking around this and other forums for a reset procedure. Anyone know how to go about it? seanl82 23 Posted March 30, 2013 Your better off just removing it altogether mate. You can google the model number and see if you can find a reset procedure, but in all likelyhood its goosed! Is the factory immobiliser still present?
rado_peril 0 Posted March 30, 2013 As far as I can tell it is the original immobiliser. Not sure how I would check. Did not find a reset procedure when google'd the model no. Think it's to old lol!
seanl82 23 Posted March 30, 2013 Original factory immobiliser is integrated into the ECU utilising a sensor ring on the ignition barrel, and a chip in the key. Generally if its the factory immobiliser at fault, it'll start for about two seconds, then cut out. There is no reset facility on the factory one though unfortunately.
