Rear Inner Wheel Clearance

Recommended Posts

I've just fitted some AP Coilovers to my 8v Corrado and I've encountered a problem. I've only been able to lower the rear approx 20/30mm as the spring perch will catch on the inner rear tyres it I go any lower. I'm running BBS RS 764 - 6.5x16 et45 with 205x45x16 on the rear, I'm changing all my tyres to 195x45x16 Vredestein Sportrac 5 on Saturday, anybody know if this will now give me enough clearance to lower the rear more, or am I likely to have to go down the spacer route?

Is there a legal amount of clearance you need between suspension components and the inside of your wheels/tyres?

Cheers

I'm guessing I'll be able to get away with only 10mm spacers? This should bring it in line with the standard ET35?

Indeed.. Although if you went to 15mm, you could use a bolt to hub/bolt to wheels system, which personally i would prefer to just using long bolts.

I'd be interested in what other people think is better though!

Thanks very much for your advice. I'll keep an eye on here, ed38 & eBay for any 2nd hand ones that come up for sale, either 10mm or 15mm. Can't really afford new at the moment, nearly £700 on coilovers and tyres has wiped me out a little bit!!

Cheers
