delfinis38 1 Posted September 13, 2013 Looking for a new sump pan and gasket for a vr... Assuming obsolete from veedub. What's the next best solution for a quality product.
seanl82 23 Posted September 13, 2013 You can still get the gasket from VW, but they're £40 odd! I bought a Victor Reinze one from ECP so good quality for about £16. Not sure about the sump, but I just got a good used one. Alternatively the alloy sump from a v6 4mo Golf I believe also fits, but is shallower and you'll need a new pump as well to fit. Hofmiester 10 Posted September 14, 2013 Do a search on eBay. I got a Topran (decent German brand) one with the gasket included for £60 Comparing it the the OE it was identical.
a1helius 10 Posted September 14, 2013 Why not use the R32 mk5 sump?

seanl82 23 Posted September 14, 2013 Ahh thanks for clearing that up Chris.

VAG-hag 0 Posted September 14, 2013 Ahh thanks for clearing that up Chris. No worries. To the op, there is an ali sump for sale on here currently. I went for this mod and its just great.
a1helius 10 Posted September 14, 2013 Same with the 24v..... works a treat :) I seem to recall not all sump bolts would fit into the bellhousing, or some parts around the bellhousing weren't accessible, although it was quite some time ago. Did you find the same?
VAG-hag 0 Posted September 15, 2013 I removed the bell housing plate, which was 3 bolts, to allow access to the remaining sump bolts. All very easy stuff mate.
