i que 0 Posted September 15, 2013 hi folks just had this done and the co levels r thru the roof, now the cars idle is also scatty and is very hesitant and lumpy thru the gear changes it missfires on most occasions then runs away as if its overfuelling-running rich,on a straight drive ie,motorway its fine, but cuts out freqently also at a stop. had things checked isv maf relays lamda hc is ok etc but now im at a dead end.any ideas or help ,the mechanic seems to think its my carbon cold air or a prob from my ecu[car used to have a vsr fitted]levels r fast idle 1 0.66 fast idle 2 0.35 natural idle test 6.74 all way out any one know thanx all edd. vw rule 19 Posted September 17, 2013 Hello Edd, the carbon cold air sensor is that the one in the inlet manifold, yeah it could be that. What's the VSR thing ?? Not the rare VSR inlet manifold is it ??? Things that can course the CO to fail are: vacuum leak lambda sensor air flow sensor catalytic converter coil / coil pack Non standard ECU fitted Sounds like your misfire issue is related to your high CO level. Edd have your car connected to a diagnostic scanner with the engine running, and then with the engine off but with ignition on, and see what error codes come up if any ? Hope this helps Si
timmaaah 0 Posted September 17, 2013 Check your ht leads too.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 17, 2013 I reckon either the MAF is shot, or you have a massive air leak downstream of it.
tonytiger 0 Posted September 17, 2013 As said above, get it on the diagnostics (vagcom, etc) - hopefully it will show something. You might need to look at the measuring blocks to check everything looks okay. If there are no errors, then I'd go with air leak or maf as kev says, or it could be your ecu if it was remapped for the vsr.
i que 0 Posted September 19, 2013 no probs folks thanx for input, had it on vagcom no faults so al start at the cheapest fix sensors etc ,lambda, maf then ecu thanx again
