ross k 10 Posted April 8, 2014 guys i really need some advice ive changed my engine for an abf and it seems to be problem after problem. i cant drive the car as it has a serious oil leak coming from the airbox end of the engine. I thought it was the sump but have changed that and its still bad i think its coming from under the timing cover what are the likely culprits? please help

seanl82 23 Posted April 9, 2014 Is it the auxiliary pulley? Not sure if the oil pump is shaft driven on the 20vt, but it's essentially driven by that if it is.

seanl82 23 Posted April 9, 2014 Doh, same thing though. Have a look on vagcat, sign up for free and you can see the blown up diagram of the engine. It lists part numbers too so a phone call to Vw should herald a result.
ross k 10 Posted April 11, 2014 thanks Sean vagcat came up with what i wanted parts arrived and turns out the intermediate shaft bearing is knackered which from what i gather means the engine needs to come out im absolutely gutted !!
