Micky fletch 10 Posted May 6, 2014 Hi folks I have an annoying little water leak in the engine on the side of the block. Basically I need to identify the offending part which is in the picture. Any help gratefully received. Thanks all in advance. 2.0 16v
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted May 6, 2014 Looks like the plastic flange could be the problem. The part number on it seems to be: 051 121 145 D That seems to have been superceded with this part: 027 121 145 B You'll probably want a new seal too: N 902 954 01 A couple of bolts: N 010 217 10 And 2 spring washers: N 012 226 5 I've just checked VW Heritage, and they have all the bits you need http://www.vwheritage.com
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted May 6, 2014 You'll probably want some coolant too!
Micky fletch 10 Posted May 6, 2014 Thanks Jo I'll give heritage a shout tomorrow
Kempy 0 Posted May 6, 2014 Tps will have all those and vw spares
Supercharged 2 Posted May 6, 2014 Yep - those plastic flanges seem to last around 80k then start to warp / crumble / leak
Riley 0 Posted May 7, 2014 Would be nice to have some alloy ones available, like the replacements for the radiator top flange that Gruvenparts do. I wonder if they would be interested in making them up? Or you can bet there's something from another Vw that will do the job? joebloggsVR69 0 Posted May 7, 2014 To be fair, the plastic one is so cheap and lasts a long time, so it would be overkill to get an alloy one :)
Riley 0 Posted May 7, 2014 Well I've experienced crappy aftermarket ones that don't last two minutes :-( (Warped/leaked soon After fitting) But now that heritage do them I suppose that's a no brainer like you say...An alloy one would look good though and probably outlast the car lol.
