White VR6 in Windy Yorkshire! :)

Recommended Posts

Lol Looks like that was already answered.

Yup! :p

But thanks - so maybe no need to replace sunroof seal then!

But, it did SOAKED the interior when I used a hose pipe to rinse car - so will need to look at the drains at some point ...

Yeah more than likely drain holes are blocked

Can I just check...

Do I need to remove front / back bumpers AND wheel arches to get to the 4 drain outlets?

Headliner removal is/was pretty easy, but I wouldn't try it alone as it's easy to bend/break it.

nice find wayne

printed & stored with my other how to's lol

No worries, bud 8)

I removed mine and find the following to add:

That link very very good step by step removal of headliner.

But,

Be warn that its very very tight to pull out headliner.

So,

I recommend :

1. Remove as much trim as possible (or at lease loosen up)!!!

2. Prepare to get the inside covered in debris/old foam

3. Prepare to warp (of even crease/snap sponge headliner)

4. U need TWO people when pulling out the headliner (one to pull the other to keep bending the trims!)

5. Headliner needs new foam strips to replace on the topside (either they old or ripped out when sliding out )

6. Think about HOW to slot headliner back in :shocked!:

But, this is just my experience

Totally agree!

I think did mine within 30mins...but at the end did struggle and got my son to sit inside to bend the trims more...

Can the sunroof drains be cleared by blowing through them with an air line?

Or use something like the outer brake cable off a push bike and push the accumulated debris through?

Certainly worth a go!

But I like to do things thorough and take things apart!

I did it on my Honda Prelude - but do NOT want to do it again!

Not on the same car anyway!

Balancing the rear bumper on my thighs whilst trying to slot into the bolts holes and bolt on is NO FUN - especially when it scrapes the wing paintwork as well! :shocked!:

Use masking tape on all edges of panels that may touch when removing and refitting painted panels

no need to remove anything wayne

open sunroof on slide fully

fill a bottle up with water, 500ml with a nozzle helps

in each of the four corners, one at a time m8, pour a little water into the channel & then check if it comes out under the car from the respective corner

IE if you pour water into the front left drain it should end up coming out from under the front left wing

if you dont see any water making it to the ground the channel may be blocked - a good squirt with an airline should budge the blockage

IF you find a blocked one it might be worth checking if water is getting into the cabin or overflowing the channel on the sunroof cartridge

i believe it is worth giving each drain hole a good blow out with an air line just anyway as a just in case ;)

no they dont have enough pressure really

wayne - if the garage is having the car again ask them to give the roof drains a blow out. it is a 30 second job once sunroof is open so they shouldnt charge you

BUT you can check if you even need to blow them out first by testing with water as i described ;)

PS an airline uses an air compressor which tend to be bulky & costly

No no no!

It means I need to wind the sunroof back manually by Allen key..

And should the sunroof get stuck opened and the heaven open up....

I will try it when the C is safely parked in my garage at home!
