Wayne2015 10 Posted February 20, 2015 My VR6 sat in specialist garage for a week now :( £1000 bill already And a new problem now has arisen :( The Coolant Housing is leaking - AAAARRRGGHHH! Garage managed to order the Coolant Housing (535121647) from Greece. But he's not been able to source the Coolant Housing Seal (535121687) - He s tried VW Heritage already. Does anyone know where he can try? Where is the place in Germany that also source elusive parts? Thanks all!
Jim 2 Posted February 20, 2015 Um.... pretty sure when you order the coolant seal housing, it comes with the seal?

Wayne2015 10 Posted February 20, 2015 That part number comes back with a radiator seal when put into google. Yes Jim Garage say its a "Coolant housing" VW Heritage say its "Radiator top flange" So I guess just different names for same part?

I did a LIVE CHAT with VW Heritage and they confirmed it does NOT come with seal :(
Jim Bowen 1 Posted February 20, 2015 I bet as the seal could perish, so longer shelf life without
Ray1965 10 Posted February 20, 2015 I bet as the seal could perish, so longer shelf life without Possibly JIm, When i ordered there was a few in stock, maybe there's been a influx of radiator related problems of late? I think you can still get the housing seal from the stealers but i'm not 100%.

Ray1965 10 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) Ray My garage managed to locate a seal (last one) from one of the VW dealers! Ok, Wayne. I've been reading your threads, oh the woes and tow's. Your not on your own though i am on my 3rd year of owning my car i need it practically all week and had no real bad stuff go tits up tbh but this past 2 months it's started to rebel on me. I have the cooling fan coming on when the car hasn't even moved, the ignition switch is kaput, and i think the fuel pump or relay (i hope it is the relay) is going twang boing. All these in 2 days. Just have to get the spanners out get hands dirty and get her right again. The joys of the Corrado. Edited February 20, 2015 by Ray1965

Are our cars best to be driven daily? Or as the old Golf GTi commercial use to say "u can always rely on a Golf" The squeaky ear ring commercial (oil can to the lady s ear in the passenger seat) And when people say "leave the golf in the garage for 6months, and it will start 1st every time !" Are those 3 above still / were true? Anyway U closer than I thought! Whereabout are u? Could hook up for group pics over Easter? Of even more often as I sometimes travel to Sheffield to work ;)

It was a lot about the VW build qua lit, which was very good in the day, but all the cars then were new and now are all shall we say getting on a bit. I actually did this the other week when we picked up the new Rocco and flicked the wifes ear ring and said no rattles then? not like my Corrado! I live just outside Rotherham. As for meets i am going to post a "Yorkshire owners meet" there is a good place called the old post office on the M1 off junction 38. Will try and get one sorted when the weather picks up. Found these info film and commercial. Edited February 20, 2015 by Ray1965

Jim Bowen 1 Posted February 20, 2015 Mine broke in the first week of ownership. And then most months for the next 8yrs  but in the grand scheme of things it works out cheaper than buying something more modern and losing money on depreciation. Hate to think where I'd be now if I had bought a ford focus 8yrs ago.

Me, u think the same! ;) I sold my 2010 Skoda Superb fully loaded (self park, satnav, heated front screen etc) to finance now a 1989 Honda Prelude + 1994 VW Corrado. Yes the Superb was comfy, had all the toys, reliable nothing went wrong during my ownership - but it was worth £1000s less each year... Now my 2cars bought for less, insured similar amount, yes I pay more tax and more petrol - but they put a huge smile on my face every time I sit in them :) And best of all, If u watch your pennies - u can sell for similar money u bought it for ;) Though, I think I may struggle with the Corrado though - lol
