daniboy1_2_3 0 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Hi, I've been looking into a replacement for my blowing standard exhaust. As anyone who has replaced their standard VR6 system recently knows you can't just drive into your local tyre and exhaust specialist and order a standard exhaust off the shelf as they don't exist anymore (unless anyone knows of somewhere? ). My options now are aftermarket systems. I had a look at a miltek stainless system but didn't really like the look of the tail pipe, too bulky for me. I'm after a stainless system that isn't in any way loud or intrusive and has a tailpipe that resembles the standard system. If anyone can comment on whats available and ypur experiences id really appreciate that, thanks. Edited March 29, 2015 by daniboy1_2_3
zygalski 10 Posted March 29, 2015 The Jetex stainless seem quite popular. Not sure how much louder than standard the resonated boxes are. £400 for the entire system: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-VR6-from-Ch-No-50-N-000-0001-8-91on-Jetex-Stainless-Exhaust-Resonated-/141242134115?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20e2afee63
seanl82 23 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Dubpower were redeveloping their system a while back. Someone on here was testing it, but can't remember who it was. The new one was attempting to be an exact replica of the OE one, although their original was pretty good, just not quite as sideways swept at the tail, and rolled at the end iirc. Worth a call/email to them though I reckon. They're reasonably priced too from what I remember. http://www.dubpower.co.uk/Corrado%20CAT%20back%20x.JPG Edited March 29, 2015 by seanl82
delfinis38 1 Posted March 29, 2015 I think I bought the last OEM exhaust for the VR in 2010, I paid silly money for it just because I wanted the car original... I guess I could of bought 2 stainless systems for the price.... Which part of your system is blowing ? If it's the sausage bit after the cat... It was still available from vwclassicpart when I enquires last year, but silly money 200 notes... Alternatively walker do a cheap alternative.
borachris 0 Posted March 29, 2015 Hi Dan, been a while, hope you are well :) I've got a magnex system on mine and I think it suits the opening very well It's not overly noisey, in fact it's a bit too quiet imo so I'm going to be get Paul at Evans Performace to make a section up to replace the middle box. If you can get just a rear silencer it might be worth getting him to make the rest of the system for you, I know a couple of people who has used him and been very happy! If you have FB his page is EvansPerformance Longlife Middlesbrough, lots of pics of his work on there.
borachris 0 Posted March 29, 2015 Sorry just read that again and you thought the miltek was too bulky so the magnex will be a bit big for you too!
timmaaah 0 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) I had mine replaced by the local Powerflow (Power and Performance in Honingham) franchise. I had it fitted about 9 years ago and have been very happy with it. They fabricate them to match the one that's there, they're not off the shelf. The exhaust note is spot on, and doesn't drone at any speed. It gives a few pops on the over-run. I was able to select what tip I wanted and at what angle it exited the car. It was also possible to have some say on how loud it was too! I can't remember the price, but it was circa £300 at the time. Powerflow are franchised, so try and get some info on your local one. I'm very happy with mine. Orig exhaust back in 2005 New exhaust. I can take another pic if you want :) Edited March 29, 2015 by timmaaah dates lel

daniboy1_2_3 0 Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks for the replies so far :) plenty of options to look into then. I'll contact dub power for more information and look into the other systems mentioned. Cheers for the heads up on evens performance in Middlesbrough Chris I'd heard good things about him but had forgotten all about him. It's just the rear silencer that has a hole in it but I have the type that is built into the centre section as opposed to just the rear silencer alone. Timmaaah if you could get a close up of your exhaust that would be great.
timmaaah 0 Posted March 30, 2015 Excuse the crap pic. In a bit of a rush as we're off on hols for a few days. It looks cack handed in the pic, but it sits in the recess perfectly :)

daniboy1_2_3 0 Posted April 3, 2015 I've read lots of good things about power flow. I had the car in for its test and the exhaust got away with an advisory which buys me some more time before having to replace it. Is it possible to repair? It's the back box that has a small hole in it and I wondered if this could be welded for now or is it not made from plain steel?.
glen.owen.140 10 Posted April 3, 2015 You can patch weld it but you risk burning threw it its thin steel
glen.owen.140 10 Posted April 3, 2015 Found this on ebay
delfinis38 1 Posted April 3, 2015 £200 One weekend when I was bored I tried to weld a rear box it wasn't that successful... I bought a brand new exhaust... Like the one pictured.. Didn't want to drop the beam so chopped it and put a sleeve in.
