Jim Bowen 1 Posted May 22, 2015 About to fit my new downpipe and notice it doesn't come with a heat shield like the original. How important is it? The original one is pressed on so not easy to swap over? Should i wrap it with that cloth stuff?
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted May 22, 2015 Not important really. My 24v downpipe doesn't have one and all is ok. Just make sure that anything close is protected. I am personally not a fan of wrapping exhausts. If oil drips onto them you have the beginnings of a recipe for a nice engine bay fire. That's just me though. If you are still concerned, get it ceramic coated. That's amazing technology!
