Changing from 42mm to 50mm inlet manifold

Recommended Posts

On my 1.8 16v I'm in the middle of changing the inlet manifold from 42 - 50mm. Do the brackets from the 42mm just swap onto the 50 or are they different? Also the throttle cable bracket looks different too? I changed over the throttle bodies and put my existing one on to the 50mm - is that right?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply - it's the two holding brackets on the back that hold the manifold to the head. One bracket has 4 bolts - two into mani and two into head. The other has on into mani and two into head. If the two manifolds are the same size they should be fine, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the 50mm was slightly deeper? Not at the car just now or would have taken a snap...

No then biĺly I am stumped there. I thought the back chamber I with the writing on was the same on both and its the tubes thatvate different. Never noticed the bracket difference. Guessing you have both brackets though?

Is the 50mm stuff all coated or shiny?

Interested to hear what you think of it on a 1.8. Hopefully the drop in torque won't be a problem (it wasn't for me on the 2.0)
