VR6 MAF Female Plug with (some) wires attatched

Recommended Posts

Had some issues with my MAF plug as the original wires have split, So I need a new plug to chop the old one off and solder on a new one.

Pictures show the state of mine....... :/

Get a terminal pin removal tool and you can pull the remains of wire with pin from the connector, you can also fit new terminal pins to each wire and just reuse the plastic connector housing.

I use these ones, but only really need the green one

So i assume you push that tool down the connector end and the wire and pin slot out?

Is this a tricky job, or will that tool make it light work?

Thanks

Yeah, you just push it in from the pin side and the whole metal pin comes out with the wire attached, you will need some new pins. Its a little tricky, but once you get the hang of the tool it works well.

Would be worth checking you have enough slack wire left so the connector still reaches the maf.

I buy all my terminals from here: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=141550095001&alt=web

I bought the terminal crimping tool from Amazon I think, it was a jago or something like that. Pretty much exactly the same as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00R7BIPXY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_BKZ1wbN32FBVQ

Either buy the pin removal tool (I use a durite multi one) or if you have a spare windscreen Wiper, remove the metal inserts from it and use them.
