Are the later and early type dash boards the same? so would it be possible to convert an early type to a later type by simple changing the plastic bits and using the same dash carcass

yes ull just need to change the plastic trim and wiring loom as they have different plugs into the back of switches

actually, the later centre section won't fit in an early dash base, as the metal bit inside it fouls on the back of the part under the ashtray (the cubby hole junk box thingy), so you have to either move the metal (i.e. cut it out) or shorten the cubby hole. ither than that, it all fits, and looks a damn sight better with the later setup too.

 

don't forget you'll have to change all your heater control cables too....great fun..... :mad:

umm ok then cool, no problem then as i will not be having the cubby hole at all so no problems there

The metal support brackets for the heater controls are different too. If you wanted to actually fit it properly you need to make up a metal bracket for the heater controls to screw to.
