Bauhaus 3 Posted July 18, 2004 Hello all ive had my corrado G60 for 3 weeks now, i dont know when the charger was last done ( if ever) but there is a number engraved on the top 123-232-56. Does anyone know if this number ties up with rebuild specialist in the uk. Also my engine has a 1H prefix does this mean it had a engine change or were some of these engines fitted at the factory? Jim 2 Posted July 18, 2004 As far as I know the Corrado G60 always had the PG block.. so it looks like yours has, for some reason, got the block from a Golf Rallye in it!
Henny 0 Posted July 19, 2004 Yup, the 1H block is a Rallye engine... It's also slightly smaller capacity (1763cc instead of 1781cc for the normal Corrado G60 engine) due to the Rally rules the car had to comply with... There's no power difference in it though, and it's actually a stronger block than the PG engine.... 8) That number doesn't look like a Jabba number (they engrave their name and the date on eny parts they can when they rebuild the chargers! :| ) but there are a few other companies that it may have been done by... If there's any question on the service history of the charger, get it booked in for a check over and possible rebuild... it's not worth thinking about what could happen if you don't... :( Oh, and welcome to the forum! 8)
beavis 0 Posted July 19, 2004 The number scribed on the top of thhe charger is a VW batch number of the unit and would have been there from the factory. Jabba/BRM stampt the casings on a flat section just behind where the topshaft chambers protrude on the charger. Welcome to the forum.
