Fully working sunroof motor

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I am looking for a fully working sunroof motor to fit in my 96 VR6 at a reasonable price. Must be in working order as I've bought 2 which neither of them worked!!!

Thanks Simon

Just be careful - while the motors do get tired as the brushes wear out, what can happen is that the mechanism of the sunroof can get so stiff and hard to operate that even a fully working motor will struggle to operate it - as a precaution, check that everything moves freely and is well lubricated and try operating the sunroof by hand with emergency allen key.

Do vw still sell the sunroof lubricant?

I bought some in April, but brace yourself.... £32 (incl VAT). It’s a fairly big tube (90g), but... bloody expensive.

Part number - G00045002

Ditto. Great price and works a treat

In fairness even the parts bloke in the Stealers was surprised at the price of the OEM lube. It's good stuff, but I wouldn’t say £32 good. I paid as I really wanted to ensure my fully functional sunroof stayed that way

I bet the £13 liqui moli does just as good job

If you have a later model Corrado then a mk3 golf sunroof motor is a straight plug in swap and far better. Mine has one on. Definitely recommended after being ripped off for an old tatty corrado one that did not work
