robrado974 1 Posted October 10, 2018 I suppose now I need a vagcom , as I’m out of ideas . The ISV has been cleaned. The ISV has been changed. I’ve had all the vac hoses off and there are no splits. I’ve cleaned the plugs to the vac lines . The MAF has been pulled whilst the engine is running and the note changes and it starts to stall. I also experienced a loss of throttle / power which I think was fuel related. I’ve fitted a new fuel filter. Obviously the new filter was dry and it took two turns of the key to fire, I would think this rules out the pump , if it was on its way out it should have struggled I would of thought. The FPR is only a few years old too. The plugs have only done 1500 miles or so . The ignition leads are 1500 miles too. Dizzy is fine and the rotor arm . I’ve cleaned the throttle body too, ok so it was still on the car but ive opened the butterfly and got in as far as I could. So I think the only option is now a vagcom check . Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 10, 2018 Vagcom would be a good idea, might give a suggestion of where to look.
robrado974 1 Posted October 10, 2018 I think I will be clutching at straws otherwise Jim . I could spend hundreds replacing parts I don’t need until I found the problem.
robrado974 1 Posted October 21, 2018 I’ve had another check this weekend. I knew it wouldn’t help but it can’t help to try . I sprayed easy start to check for vac leaks again . The coil has been changed. I’ve fitted new plugs . I’ve removed the BMC , just in case it was dirty and playing the MAF up. I’ve unplugged the ISV , whilst the car is running and it made a difference so it’s working,I then fitted another working ISV , just in case . Result . It’s still the same sketchy idle . Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 21, 2018 Is it just the idle? Does it run ok apart from that?
robrado974 1 Posted October 21, 2018 Yes jim . Pulls like a train . Maybe I have narrowed it down to the potentiometer?. I’ve checked the wires to the electrical plugs too. They are wrapped well and no amount of wiggling alters anything.
