Hi Guys,

Are these trumpets that are rare and was only from Phoenix engineering?

Are these them think they have been remade by classics for a fair price ?

Looks like the trumpet with the screw is still not available though on the other side.

Hello mate,

not sure about Phoenix engineering there could be another thread on info regarding that, I can't remember.

But the link you've attached is for the trumpet guide/s for the MK2 Scirocco both sides, they were used from 1982 to roughly 1989 and don't have the locking bolt attached, the Scirocco used a separate Locking nipple to go with above trumpet guide, this locking nipple was fitted at the end of the driver's side trumpet guide, and bolts down on bonnet cable keeping it tort/tight.

Locking nipple Part number 815 827 525

The later MK2 Sciroccos had the locking trumpet guide with bolt, similar to the Corrado up until 1992 again on the driver's side UK spec cars or passenger side Europe/USA spec car's.

Think the bonnet pull handle was on the left side for RHD and LHD Sciroccos.

Here are the part numbers below:

O/S/F trumpet guide Corrado 1988 to 1995

Part number 443 823 597A

N/S/F trumpet guide with locking bolt

Corrado 1991 to 1995

Part number 535 823 555

N/S/F trumpet guide with locking bolt

for early Corrado 1988 to 1990

for later MK2 Scirocco 1989 to 1992

Yes that is correct or you could purchase the locking nipple as fitted separately on the Scirocco, and fit it the same to the Corrado but on the passenger side.

Also guys think I have found a new source for the bonnet lock pin set. Part number 431898550 which are obsolete.

They look correct anyway and have the part number listed, good price as well.

https://www.iltisshop.be/bodywork/bonnet-lock-complete-set-new

That's a great find and is the correct part number, I've checked on Classic Parts and yes it's still obsolete, plus I checked on ETKA and it was listed as a repair kit, looks like you were able to buy the whole thing, just like in the link you attached.

Locking pin repair kit

Part number 431 898 550

Corrado

I think VW Heritage were or are doing the rubber/nylon bush for the locking pin, but that's all nothing else.

This locking trumpet definitely works on a Rado Si as this is constructed in a different way then the OE Corrado trumpet with the screw ? The other side the guide trumpet is the same part number for the Scirocco and Rado Si so shared the same part and I believe they have been obsolete for some time so good to see they are available at an affordable cost.

Oh ok that's good to know,

keep us updated on your thoughts once they're delivered, as I might be interested in getting a set, or if there's more interest from others, might be worth doing a group buy, the guy might amend his price if we buy in bulk ??

Might well do Si, Im just quizzing him at the moment to make sure they are built exactly to the same specification as the part number and not just fit the VW Iltis. He has all ready told me they fit a lot of different cars from the VAG range and has sold a fair few to Audi owners. .

Oh right ok.

I've seen the correct one with bolt for the Corrado made out of stainless steel,

it's online or Ebay but stupidly expensive something like £40 I'm not paying that.

They dio remake the screw trumpet a few years back for about £7.00 from classics and the other guide trumpet was obsolete at the time, now it has reversed which is available , they like to warp our minds.

Right the obsolete screw trumpet.

Just purchased this off ebay, half the price then others on the market(that includes postage)Just under £20.00

Looks correct like the corrado one, off an Audi Quattro UR part number. 811823555

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-ur-quattro-coupe-nipple-sleeve-811823555/223633703911?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144

Once I have received it I will update this thread, it's down to the end circumference of the trumpet end that stops it pulling through the metal loop.

You can also purchase it from Germany from Audi Tradition(equivalent of VW classics) might be cheaper its 8.21 euro + postage. Or your local audi might be able to source it for you.

Part number 811 823 555 is for the early Corrado trumpet guide with bolt, but not sure what difference there is between the later part number 535 823 555 possibly this just superseded the early one, with out seeing them both together I can't say.

It is an early corrado part number that was superseded in 1991 and the lock rod unlocking loop was also superseded so 50/50 if it fits , the original part numbers were quattros so maybe as the Quattro parts were been made obsolete they updated the part numbers to a Corrado.

I will update as soon as I have compared them.

After reading this German corrado forum looks like the trumpet screw part numbers early and late are actually the same part. So fingers crossed.

Ok good news on the the description here says it fits.

What you could do is use the unthreaded trumpet and use a bike cable 'grip' at the end. The advantage of that is there is a larger area to grasp the bonnet cable rather than a screw head point cutting into it. I've replaced my bowden cable with a bike cable to sits perhaps more relevant to that setup.

Hopefully Si I will make an update once received.

Might be well worth doing a bulk order on these from that German Audi company, basically steal them off the Audi community.

Might be free delivery over a certain order, or even an Audi dealer might have access to them, they were about £7 from Heritage with £3,50 posted so I suppose paying £19.00 all in is OK considering VW do not offer them for sale.
