24V Renshaw 0 Posted September 16, 2004 Got this mail from a mate of mine about his MK3 VR6. It misfires when warm and under power, not during normal motorway running but loads of hesitation in traffic. It is better but not cured since I changed the plugs from NGK to Bosch. I think that I have an oil stem seal gone and that plug fouling is the problem. Blue smoke can be seen after deceleration. Sometimes it will just cough and then even when hot after a run down the M3 it will couch and splutter all the way home the couple of miles from the junction, again only when put my foot down. I I accelerate hard then overfuelling causes some loud banging from the exhaust. any ideas would be much appreciated. Any ideas VR people? Cheers Jay

tonytiger 0 Posted September 16, 2004 Has it been on vagcom yet? Definitely worth getting the diagnostics checked. I don't know how anybody with a VR copes without having vagcom. Checked mine last night, and found an intermittent cam position sensor open/short - hopefully that explains the intermittent lack of power on mine.
