What are the expected gains with 263's?
Is a remap a necessity after fitting?

'96 VR is due its 50k service, has full stamped history till '99 (consistent with mileage)
Is it worth paying the extra squids just for the sake of the dealer stamp??
Love to know what you all think....

I have always liked those, bit of a forerunner to our Corrados really, an early part of a long relationship with VW. Think Karmann built about four times as many as they did of the Corrado. Air cooled has its ups and downs too!

Great, thanks guys, this forum continues to enlighten!
The closure function works when key is in door so seeing as when the fob button is pressed it only pulses for 1/2 second (and likewise when I start the car) the toad under my dash must need some sorting out.
I've had a dig around the web looking at installation manuals and the like but don't have a pin for the toad, will have to contact the installers - who I suspect are no longer trading.
As for the factory immob I will do as advised and report....
I must remember not to post here after a couple of beers as the ramblings tend to get ramblier!

Wonderful!
I know absolutely nothing about alarms/immobilisers!
According to the only previous owner pretty much all he ever had to do with the car (50k miles) was fit a TOAD A1606 cat 1 alarm in '03 -receipts confirm this too - as he said 'the original failed and the insurance company insisted it was replaced'
How does the alarm/immobiliser function on the Corrado?
Is there an immobiliser control box that would be replaced as part of a new install as happened in '03?
Where do you get VAGCOM?
Other possible related oddity - if I park and lock up leaving the sunroof tilted open when I unlock and sit in the roof closes a touch, actually I should check if it's when I switch the ignition back on or when I press the unlock button on the fob. Full closure or something gone arseways?
There's an 'alarm' led in the switch blank beside the headlight switch, when I switch off ignition it goes red after maybe a minute and to get the starter to spin you have to press the unlock fob button which I presume is the usual set up?
On another note I forgot how rubbish the headlights are on a C!!!
Had a 300 mile round trip today the last of which was driven in poor light with even poorer lights, the VR really likes to keep pulling doesn't it!!
Hope this ramble makes some sort of sense...

The car is new to me, it has happened a handful of times, turns over and starts straight away, runs for a few seconds but then stops. Takes 3 or 4 attempts (regardless of throttle position) to get motoring. Has happened after short runs where I've had the boot down with little time to cruise + cool hence why I suspect V-lock.
Any ideas folks?

driven that road a few times :)great looking example too, health to drive.
Thanks aide, theres a few more choice roads in the west, some have poor surfaces in spots but when you know where to let it go aaaah that tyre squeal pulling out of corners!!!!

Very nice purchase. Wish mine was as high as that. With my 90mm splitter I can't go near a speed bump at anywhere over 10mph :)Thanks, looked unusual to me at first but its beginning to grow on me! Very handy round here - we have some 'corrugated' roads

Need one here! Black seeing as cream/beige not an option

That would be telling!

Thanks Bill,
Its a 'norn' Ireland plate, soon to be southern Ireland, was advertised on Autotrader (NI). Don't think the seller realised Storm meant last of the line so it wasn't mentioned in the ad! Been looking for a good example for a while.
Now I have to 'clear' it and hand over vehicle registration tax to our b%$t*^d government ~ 36% of what THEY think is the OMSP.
Part of the drive home took me along a super road from Enniskillen to Sligo - worth a look on google maps at a place called Glencar, a perfect stretch to get reacquainted with Rado handling and learn a little about the VR!!
Now I have to decide what I'm going to do with my very sorry '90 1.8 and somewhat less sorry 93 2.0!
-
The temptation to drive it outweighs the reasons not to! All of a sudden I have business to do which involves driving some nice twisty roads!
-
Haha! Funny! Yes I'm certain, didn't believe it till I saw it, seller was himself 'vintage' - genuine guy, genuine car.
-
That explains it! Wonder why they changed it?
Delfinis - that's a nice motor - similar history with this one, first owner had purchased off the forecourt and garaged after it 40,000. Unlike you I'm not sure if I'll be able to resist putting up a few miles!
Not the best pics, when I get some more not taken with phone I'll post them.
Two tiny rust spots just appearing on each wing wheel arch, my bodyshop guy reckons I should just treat it for now - not do any painting as it is so original, what do you guys think?

So 10 years since I last drove a Corrado I collected this last week - completely original 49k - Storm!
My first VR and I don't know if I'm imaging it but it seems to sit much higher on its springs than my valvers did??
Reckon there can't be too many low mile 'rados out there - anybody know what the lowest genuine milage cars clock in at?
Thoroughly enjoying it - going the long way round to get everywhere!!!!

Just bought one (96 storm) for under 5k, 1 owner, two tiny spots of rust on front + rear arch otherwise completely original + perfect - nice!!

How do we do this?

Hi folks,
I'm new here, looks like the place to be!
It's ten years since my '93 2.0 16v was on the road, has been sitting in a shed looking sad and I'm considering getting her back on the road.
I'll need a few bits!
r/h door
r/h wing
front bumper
grill
bumper 'skirt'?
r/h bumper bracket (on wing)
bonnet
bonnet catch (on bonnet)
front panel c/w bonnet locks
(will I continue?!)
radiator
r/h side rad cowl (inside)
PAS steel pipe
carbon canister
headlights & r/h headlight bezel, foglights & r/h wing indicator
and
r/h wing inner liner
I need to decide whether or not to rebuild or break....
Any thoughts??
~~Thanks

Dealer or no dealer?

Thanks folks
Despite the fact that it would be nice to have concurrent stamps in a book that, and dealer servicing would be a new experience for me. Service manager quoting 250 for oil filter + change, airfilter, plugs oh and 'a good once over'. Told him he'd get that from me if I allowed him to touch my VR and he wasn't nice to it. I'll have a chat with the mechanics first to see if the know what they're looking at but paying over the odds doesn't sit well with me so I'll probably do what I've always done and look after it. Must get a Bentley manual!
